The launch of the Yuri Gagarin spacecraft from the Baikonur cosmodrome on the eve of the 60th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's first space flight. The launch was attended by Dmitry Rogozin, Director General of Roscosmos, Askar Mamin, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, and Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation.
On April 9, 2021, the Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket with the Yu.A. Gagarin manned transport vehicle (Soyuz MS-18) was launched from Baikonur.
The flight took place according to the so-called ultrafast, two-turn approach scheme, after 3 hours and 23 minutes, the transition hatch of the Russian module "Dawn" opened, and the crew of the 64th long-term expedition went on board the ISS.
